"Certain" people in China are signing petitions to cancel this show because they say that this series is insulting their great general Kong Ming. man this is the only anime that isn't streamable for them on Chinese platforms

I'm Chinese and it's really only a very small minority that is calling for it to be cancelled, and it's not even because of misrepresentation of Kongming (we have been memeing on Kongming since waaaaaay back). It's actually because of a license plate on a truck in Ep.3 which is 47-291, and when read out in Japanese is Shina-Nikui, which means "I hate Shina" (Shina being a racist slur against China used by Japanese during WWII). Most people think its just a coincidence but you know there's always extremists.

Also there's a lot more animes not streamable in China, but mostly because its not worth it for streaming platforms to buy the copyrights, especially the less popular ones.

I believe the majority of the Japanese populace has gotten over a general hate of your people to that extent. There's probably still bad blood and twisted stories (I'm sure there's been a little exaggeration of things that Chinese have done to Japanese so they can feel less bad about some of the fucked up shit their undisciplined soldiers did that earned them the ire of the Chinese people), but I doubt it's to the extent that a random license plate in one episode of a show is intentionally racist towards China. Honestly from what i hear your people have bigger things to worry about than the possibility that a Japnese animator is being racist towards them, and that's nearly as bad as the bizarre twitter mobs we have here in the west (although our Twitter mobs should still be worse than Chinese netizens).

If I've learned one thing about Chinese people, it's that most of them will hate whoever the TV tells them to hate.

Well to be fair it's not like they have much choice. When state-sponsored propaganda is the only allowed form of news and even just using a VPN to browse internet pages from non-Chinese sources is illegal your primary source is going to be whatever your told by the official narrative. And honestly there's plenty of that in us on-communist nations as well, with Trump and Republicans in the US being the best examples. If your best way to try and pin a crime on somebody is to keep using the legal system to harass them until you can find something and when asked what provable offense an individual has committed to warrant such harassment you can't respond with any actual evidence, then you probably shouldn't have such a massive hate boner for the individual. The man's got an excessively large ego and probably has some iffy financing, but doesn't deserve to be treated like he is by the mainstream media. Unfortunately even in non-US places there's the general narrative of Trump/Republican=bad. I still remember when people were protesting him coming to my country to check out one of his golf courses or hotels well after his time as the US President was ended. Once the person on TV tells you somebody is a bad man a lot of people will go along with it.

No he is a real historical figure, its just people don't have the best sources and info for his time period and the best source we have is Romance of the three kingdoms which is well fictional because it tends to romanticize some things, including Kong Ming's achievements. Yet since its fiction that is based on real history its considered fact in some arguments because it does get a lot of things right to what we have found. But there is still a lot of things in question like Zhao Yun wasn't even a real person, and a lot of Kong Ming's strategies were overcomplicated over time. Including things like the stone sentinel maze.

A few hundred vs 1.3 - 1.4 Billion Chinese in China alone then there's a few hundreds millions of Chinese overseas. There's even two rather renowned Three Kingdoms youtubers who study Three Kingdoms history extensively said that this show is rad and a pretty accurate depiction of Zhuge Kongming

First off, its a japanese anime. Its fiction. China cant touch it. NOTHING will happen to it.
